~ Dating ~

I chanced upon this SDU notebook that I got back when I was a freshman and I found the contents really interesting. Haha. So here's the main guidelines of dating.

1) The 3 BE-attitudes of a successful date - be happy, be confident and be optimistic
2) Dating is evaluation time - determine if your date is going to be your soul mate.
3) Always save the romance for the right relationship.
4) Do not fall in love with what a person can do for you, fall in love with who they are.
5) Mutual respect and admiration of each other's character and goals are critical to a lasting relationship.
6) Don't expect to find someone who loves everything you love and vice-versa - but it's wise to look for someone who shares a similar life direction and common core values.
7) Never try to mould a person you're dating to fit your "ideal" expectations.
8) Better to leave the past where it is, don't keep mementoes from failed relationships. They wil only clutter up your emotional and physical space.
9) Look your best on your dates. "To be loved for who you are", does not mean not making an effort to look your best.
10) Give your full attention to your date. Make the person feel that they are the only one around.
11) It is easier to find and maintain a meaningful, lifelong relationship by taking small steps to improve yourself.
12) Believe in yourself and avoid go-nowhere entanglements, and you will have the confidence to pursue promising relationships.
13) After consistently dating the same person, don't be afraid to broach the issue of commitment. You will simply be weeding out the commitment-phobics and impressing the commitment-minded.
14) Be sure to listen to both your head and heart and decide which thoughts you are going to listen to. Avoid negative and destructive thoughts.
15) Chemistry is important to start a relationship but, to sustain one, you need to know and identify with the other person and their goals.
16) Review the actions, conversations and interpretations that occur after a date. Notice patterns.
17) Know the character traits you are looking for so that you can see beyond your date's circumstances to discover who they are as a person.
18) Form a dating support team. Find a dating coach, seek our role models and spend time with them regularly. These are the people you can call and who can support you with activities or dates.
19) Encountering challenges in a relationship can be a positive sign. Overcoming them can bring a couple closer together.
20) Think "what can I give to this person", not "what can this person give to me".

So there they are. The golden advices on dating.
I kinda agree with most of them but I can't foresee myself every doing number 18! hahaha
And don't jump to conclusions, I'm not dating or whatever (wish I could practice a few of these advices thoguh. Haha). The only reason for this post is cause I chanced upon this book and found it rather apt for many my age. =)

Well, shall end here.

Good night everyone! =)

Don't Stop Believin' - Journey

Just a small town girl
Livin' in a lonely world
She took the midnight train goin' anywhere

Just a city boy
Born and raised in south Detroit
He took the midnight train goin' anywhere

A singer in a smoky room
A smell of wine and cheap perfume
For a smile they can share the night
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

Working hard to get my fill
Everybody wants a thrill
Payin' anything to roll the dice just one more time

Some will win, some will lose
Some were born to sing the blues
Oh, the movie never ends
It goes on and on and on and on

Strangers waiting
Up and down the boulevard
Their shadows searching in the night
Streetlight people
Living just to find emotion
Hiding somewhere in the night

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on
Streetlight people

Don't stop believin'
Hold on to that feelin'
Streetlight people

My current favourite song. =)

Ok. Disclaimer - the following paragraph probably won't make sense to many but I just wanted somewhere to "pen" these thoughts down so pardon me k. haha..
I knew it all along it would turn out like that. In fact, I was getting ready to face it since I decided to put myself through the test. However, think I sorta let my heart down a little cause it moved. But I believe I'll get over it really soon. Think I was holding on to the hope that this could be a fairytale come true, hoping that I could be the one that made the difference. But guess hopes are sometimes just hopes and reality just ain't gonna give what we want. So after reality check, I'm gonna heal myself and move on. =)

Ok. Now she doesn't want to take grad photos with me. Haha.

Bleah. Hate this pessimistic me. Gotta get out of this black hole soon.

Anyhow, I baked again yesterday...

MINI LEMON CHEESECAKE!!!! =)
Took the recipe off "taste.com.au".

Here's a shoutout to my sis for all the help with this cheesecake.
After a longgg day's work, we finally got to taste it at 10.45pm. Haha.. Whilst watching soccer and... it tasted GREAT!!!!!

Think it was probably cause of the added lemony taste and the interesting ginger nut biscuit base. haha...
sorry the photos aren't very nicely taken. The lighting at home wasn't very good and I used my mobile to take these photos in fact. Haha..
OH, and I'm proud of the fact I actually TRIED a topping for the first time.. lemon curd topping. And I must say, it tasted quite good. Haha...

~ Never good enough for her ~

Not sure about most of you but for me, being the filial daughter was always one of my greatest goals in life. I guess ever since I learnt how to feel, I had always hoped my mum would appreciate things that I did, and let her feel like she was cared for just like how my brother cared for her. According to her, my brother was the only caring from young. In other words, his sensitive nature was inborn. Unlike my sis and I, who never really bothered about how she felt. So as I grew older, I tried time and time again to be the kind of daughter she'd be proud of. I tried to think from her point of view so that our frequency of arguments could reduce drastically. And for a few years, it did. I managed to open her up with my sudden hugs and numerous thrashing out sessions but last night, I think she officially broke my heart.

Basically my mum was upset with my dad cause he made her go to some company function at a Changi bungalow when she didn't want to. And he sort of changed the plans a little so anyways, we took a walk along the Changi Point Broadwalk. Will upload some pictures later. So anyways, thinking that we should go elsewhere to eat so everyone could be happy, I insisted that I didn't want to eat at the bungalow and that we want to go elsewhere to eat. However, after I made such a move, my mum came out of Changi Beach Club saying that my brother didn't want to eat and she already made plans and that my sis and I were just bring troublesome and my bro wanted to stay there and now because we are so troublesome, he's got to go with us.

That hurt like crazy man. I mean my initial idea was that we would bring her out since she was so unhappy in the first place but guess I was really wrong. Jackpot and my bro's wants was way more important than anything else.

It's just so hurting that no matter what I do, I'll never be good enough and never be caring enough. I don't think it's my fault I wasn't born as caring as bro and I'm glad he is. I just wish I was. I just wish I could make you happy. Feel like giving up already though. Don't even feel like celebrating my birthday cause whatever for? Don't even think I matter to her anyways.

I don't know how to describe exactly how I feel but it's just hurting. It hurt so badly I cried. And for me to cry, think that shows the extent of whatever happened yeah? haha.

Ah wells. Whatever.

Anyways, I took some really good pictures at the broadwalk. It's on my wallpaper on my hp now. If you all want the photos just let me know! Can bluetooth to ya'll. Haha..

~ loveliest lunch ever and bake bake bake! =) ~

Before I start on what I baked today... let me just say I had the most awesome lunch yesterday with Sharon and Huiling. =) Can't wait to get the original photos from them! They look sooooo good!! Think I'm going there again tomorow! hahaha... Hope I can take as nice photos as we took that day.

Anyways, I just want to give a shout out to huiling.. the reason why we went to LA NONNA (holland v) in the first place. =) Oh, and credits to SHARON for recommending this lovely place. =)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY my dearest HUILING!!!
May all your wishes and dreams come true...
Thank you for always being so selfless. Think I sometimes take advantage of that. =(
Sorry for being mean at times...
I really hope you've enjoyed yourself that day and I look forward to the dates in the many years to come! =)
And I'm CERTAIN you'll find a GOOD HUBBY. One that'll be willing to give up as much for you as you will for him. And that guy will be such a LUCKY guy.
If anyone ever bullies you (think MR.B), let me know and I won't let him off.
Don't ever let people bully you k!
Really hope your grad trip works out.
Take care and may you always be blessed with love, joy, laughter and peace! =)
LOVE YA LOADS!! =)

~ my mini success story ~

I've been working the whole of the week this past week, or should I say, most of the days. Started the nets part time job thing on Monday, took up the dhoby ghaut and harbourfront clusters. Managed to complete dhoby ghaut that day. =) Did harbourfront the next. Harbourfront included Sentosa by the way. The walk from one place to another was exhausting! And the weather that day didn't help at all. Thankfully there were only 3 main places I had to go in Sentosa.

Started work as a ticketing cashier for beerfest on Wed. It was pretty fun. =) First day was like a warming up practise for us cashiers. Nothing much happened, and the day went pass quite quickly. Dinner wasn't too bad. Then came Thurs, headed to Advocceight to return all the completed forms and took up the jurong point and white sands cluster as well. Decided to drop by Jurong Point to check it out cause there were 32 shops to cover and my... was I appalled at the size of the mall!! Haven't been there in ages so I didn't know it had expanded and had become sooooo enormous! What's worse was the unit number had repeats! Totally killed myself in that few hours and covered only 12 stalls!

Huiling was really sweet, she came all the way to pay me a visit thinking I would go straight for my beerfest job like I initially said I would but I changed my mind in the end cause my bag was just way too heavy. Felt really bad for making her come all the way. Beerfest job ended around 12 plus and only reached back to hall around 1 cause the queue for cab was crazy. Was determined to finish JP on Fri so I started my day early. Headed to JP early in the morn and arrived there around 10.30am. Did my homework the night before by checking the store locator and directory online so I grouped the shops in clusters. IN other words, I planned my route so I could minimize walking. Haha.

Beerfest was insane on Friday. The crowd just came non-stop and before we knew it, it was 10pm already! Suppose to have someone taking over me for the second shift at about 11pm but the queue was so crazy I ended up reaching hall only around 1 plus 2am. Had to wake up at 8am to meet Yiwen for some YEP finance stuff the next morning then head back to White Sands to finish up whatever I took. Really glad everything went rather smoothly and had a lift to White Sands cause my parents decided to go there for lunch! =)

Worked the 2nd shift for beerfest on Sat which was from 10pm to 3am. Sat was surprisingly less busy for me. Felt kinda slack in fact.

Ok.. Think I elaborated too much on my week's happenings...
Here comes my SUCCESS STORY. That is... none other than... my
FATHERS' DAY UPSIDE DOWN BANANA CAKE!!!!
WHEE!!!!
Baked it on Sunday late morning. Had family lunch at KFC after that. Haha. It was kinda cool how we all came together to eat at a fast food joint after sooo long. And boy am I glad they had student meal on weekends as well. =D

Sun at beerfest was wayyyyyyyyy slack! There was hardly any crowd! hahaha...
Anyways, there was suppose to be a staff party after that but we were all kinda tired and just wanted to grab a few nice beers BUT.... we couldn't =( We were either not entitled to them or it was cause I didn't have the beer tokens. I mean I had a few but they were all to be given away so ya. Fortunately, Jess and Lishi were nice enough to give me their tokens and I managed to change 3 tokens for an oat aged cider! No idea how it tastes yet though. Took back a budweiser as well but for free.

Just drank Timmermans. Some Lambic drink which tasted more like sparkling juice. Haha. My sis brought it back from some birthday party she attended. Think I much prefer these kinda sweet drinks to classic beers. Haha! oh oh! Managed to try tea beer last night too.. and it was lovely! haha.

Baked another round of banana cake again and this time... it turned out even nicer!! =D
Really really happy about this mini success story of mine. Too bad there isn't much otherwise I'd love to ask if you all could sample and give me some feedback. =)

Alright. Shall go now.

Oh oh! Before I go, just want to say that beerfest was a really great experience for me cause we had a really wonderful in-charge. And she's none other than LISHI! She was really awesome! Patient and kind and caring. She really cared for our welfare, never failed to have a smile on her face when dealing with customers, and going the extra mile for them. Really kudos to her. *APPLAUSE* haha... I'm certain all the ticketing crew would agree with me. THANK YOU LISHI!!! =)

Alright. Off I go and here are some pics! =)

My lovely lovely UPSIDE DOWN BANANA CAKE! =)
HAPPY FATHERS's DAY dearest daddy!!!

It was pink ticket for the last day! Kinda regret not taking the rest of the days...

Faithfully by Journey

Highway run into the midnight sun
Wheels go round and round
You're on my mind
Restless hearts sleep alone tonight
Sending all my love along the wire
They say that the road
ain't no place to start a family
Right down the line it's been you and me
And loving a music man
ain't always what it's supposed to be

Oh Girl
you stand by me
I'm forever yours
faithfully
Circus life under the big top world
We all need the clowns to make us laugh
Through space and time
Always another show
Wondering where I am lost without you
And being a part ain't easy on this love affair
Two strangers learn to fall in love again
I get the joy of rediscovering you

Oh girl
you stand by me
I'm forever yours
faithfully
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh
faithfully
I'm still yours
I'm forever yours
Ever yours
faithfully

I recently fell in love with this song. Think its the tune that got me addicted to it though. haha.. Anyhow, it's a nice meaningful song and I quite like the version by the Glee cast.. but after listening to the original version... i think... I prefer the original singers. Haha.. more soothing. Heh.

Sometimes, I wish things could be as simple as they used to be. Where like is simply like, no *, no fine prints, no buts and maybes. Haha.

~ What I would do if I had lots of money ~

I recently went to a business presentation and the speaker suggested I wrote down what I would do if money was no longer an issue. Didn't really have time to sit down and think and since I've found some time now, I'm gonna write it down. =)

1. Give $ to my parents and grandparents so they can do whatever they want.
2. Support my siblings education.
3. Open my dream cafe. =)
4. Donate to families of the lower income brackets, ensuring especially that their kids have enough to last receive adequate education.
5. Go traveling!

Hm... the list seems shorter than I expected it to be! Haha.. Guess I'll add more along the way. Now, I'm going to write down what I hope to do before I leave this world. (now money is an issue) haha.

1. To have done enough to qualify myself to be a filial daughter.
2. Open my dream cafe. =)
3. Meet up with every friend. =) =)
4. To donate to a charity
5. To visit my teachers.
6. Travel.
7. See a shooting star (which I'm lucky enough to see during my YEP trip!! =D)

Oh no.. how come my list is sooo short again! hahaha...
Well.. Alright, guess I'll leave the list as it is now..
Meanwhile... Take care everyone!!! =)

~ Grateful ~

Grateful for a friend who despite her stressful work life, deprive herself of sleep just to care for me, to talk to me, to make sure I won't get hurt.

Grateful for a friend who although is being stressed out by so many other stuff always take time out to listen to me.

Grateful to a mum who introduced me baking and allowed me to bake and mess up the house everytime, and a family whose always my guinea pig whenever I bake. haha...

Thank you so much. =)

~ Elated ~

I'm elated cause I just baked a successful cheesecake yesterday!!! =D =D =D
It's a chocolate oreo cheesecake!!! =)
Why I would say it's successful?
Cause... my sis said it's good enough to sell and my bro's friend was actually willing to buy it!!! HAHAHA

WHEE!!!!
Ok, I know the pics aren't that fantastic cause my camera isn't that fantastic so ya... but it tastes AWESOME. seriously. (ok, then again, I MAY be biased. Haha..)

Went to the botanic gardens this morning! =)
Before I say anything else, just a fun fact. Do you know its called the Singapore Botanic Gardens and not Botanical gardens? If you type Botanical Gardens in the iphone maps, it'll show you that the botanical gardens in Penang. Hahaha...
Anyhow, haven't been there in the longgeestttt time! haha...
Didn't manage to take many photos maybe cause we didn't stay long there cause the birds were just toooo threatening!!!
We left cause a bird shit fell right smack between us! hahahahahah...

ta-da! the reason we left botanic gardens. hahaha...
seriously it was toooo close for comfort. hahaha...
